Call for Causes
Just Atonement Inc. is issuing a call for causes from passionate lawyers at any stage of their career who are seeking resources and potential funding for social impact litigation.
We are looking to build a portfolio of social impact lawsuits that can be strategically and/or financially supported by Just Atonement, Inc. (on either a not-for-profit or other legally permissible basis).
While any lawsuit that promotes a positive social impact will potentially be considered, specific areas of interest include:
Discrimination and equal protection
Climate change
Executive power / overreach
Rights of indigenous peoples
Labor and employment
Health care and access to health care
The right to life as recognized by international human rights law
War crimes / the crime of aggression
Corporate crime in the United States or internationally
Process
A funding committee at Just Atonement Inc. will review all initial applications and will follow up with applicants who qualify. The committee will consider criteria such as:
The cause itself
Experience of advocate and/advocacy team bringing the cause
Potential complexity of the litigation
Causes of action
Hoped for results from the litigation
Plaintiff or potential plaintiff required to litigate the cause
The intended jurisdiction
Budget
Advisors and/or experts to the cause
Stage of the action / litigation
