Just Atonement Inc. issues a Call for Causes
In 2013, our Executive Director Dave Inder Comar brought a historic case against members of the Bush Administration for their role in invading Iraq in violation of international law.
The case was only made possible by the support of generous backers who contributed to a crowdfunding campaign to support the lawsuit. Comar was able to raise USD 6,000 in 45 days, which went towards legal expenses and costs.
While the Iraq War litigation ended on appeal in 2017, it nonetheless brought historic attention to victims of the Iraq War and raised questions about the legality of the war itself.
When it comes to litigating a just cause, Just Atonement Inc. knows the importance of having the necessary resources. We are thus thrilled to be issuing a Call for Causes—seeking passionate lawyers at any stage of their career who are looking for resources and potential funding for social impact litigation.
In particular, we are looking for lawyers litigating causes related to:
Discrimination and equal protection
Climate change
Executive power / overreach
Rights of indigenous peoples
Labor and employment
Health care and access to health care
The right to life as recognized by international human rights law
War crimes / the crime of aggression
Corporate crime in the United States or internationally
By supporting the efforts of social impact lawyers through funding, we hope to truly catalyze global justice in historic and unprecedented ways.
